GEDA has announced its active involvement in the inaugural Northern Ireland ‘Open Doors’ event, a strategic initiative poised to significantly bolster the region’s construction talent pipeline. Scheduled from 18th to 22nd March 2025, this programme, spearheaded by Construction Futures in partnership with Build UK and crucially backed by the Department of Education, represents a concerted effort to attract and inform prospective professionals. For the first time, this focused week will offer an immersive, behind-the-scenes exploration of construction operations, directly engaging students from schools, colleges, and universities across Northern Ireland. GEDA’s participation will see the company opening its operational sites in Omagh, Dungannon, and Derry. This provides a tangible opportunity for young people and career changers to gain practical insights into the industry’s diverse roles and technological advancements. For senior construction leaders, this event is more than just public outreach; it signifies a critical, collaborative platform for addressing the persistent skills shortage, enhancing the sector's professional image, and securing future human capital. The initiative underscores a proactive, industry-wide commitment to workforce development, essential for maintaining operational resilience and delivering vital infrastructure projects. Engaging with this programme offers a direct mechanism to shape future talent acquisition strategies and fortify the industry's long-term sustainability in the UK. Read More
