Designer Group invests €10m in new modular manufacturing facility in Co Meath
Designer Group, a prominent Irish mechanical and electrical engineering firm, is investing €10m in a new modular manufacturing facility in Kells, Co Meath. The 4,000-sq metre workshop will expand the company’s off-site construction capabilities, targeting the data centre, energy, and pharmaceutical sectors. This strategic investment underscores the increasing importance of modular construction in addressing demands for speed, cost certainty, and sustainability in complex projects. The facility, expected to create 75 jobs in engineering, fabrication, and logistics, will serve client sites across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Paul Nicholls, Group Managing Director, highlights the shift towards prefabrication to enhance efficiency and reduce risks. The move also bolsters Designer Group’s local presence and commitment to skilled employment in the region. With 1,250 employees across 10 countries, this investment signals Designer Group’s ambition to capitalise on the growing demand for prefabricated solutions in critical infrastructure projects.
