Farnborough Road Mixed Use Development in Nottingham
GEDA, in collaboration with Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA), has completed the Farnborough Road mixed-use development in Clifton, Nottingham, transforming a former college site into a multifaceted community asset. This significant regeneration project strategically integrates commercial and residential provisions with enhanced public amenities.
The development encompasses a new two-storey head office for NCHA, designed to optimise operational efficiency with a 24-hour call centre and maintenance depot. Residential components address diverse societal needs, including 50 HAPPI-compliant independent living apartments and six bungalows for older people, alongside 14 supported living flats catering to individuals with mental health challenges. Crucially, existing sports facilities were retained and upgraded, reinforcing community infrastructure.
Achieving BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A(13A) rating, the project demonstrates robust net-zero carbon credentials through a fabric-first approach, solar PV, MVHR systems, green roofs, and EV charging. Delivered on schedule and within budget, Farnborough Road exemplifies a successful synthesis of social value creation, environmental sustainability, and architectural quality, offering a replicable model for purpose-driven urban regeneration within the UK construction sector.
