Martin O’Kane elected as President of The CEF
Martin O’Kane, Deputy Group Managing Director of Heron Bros Ltd, has been elected President of The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) at its Annual General Meeting on June 6th. This significant leadership transition sees Mr O’Kane succeed John Tracey of Tracey Bros, marking a strategic milestone as the first representative from Heron Bros to assume this pivotal role within Northern Ireland’s principal construction industry representative body.
Mr O’Kane’s appointment underscores the CEF’s commitment to experienced and qualified leadership. A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2015, he holds a BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying and a Diploma in Project Management. His nearly three-decade tenure at Heron Bros, culminating in his current role overseeing the Group’s Construction Division and its extensive property portfolio across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, equips him with a broad operational and strategic perspective.
In his new capacity, Mr O’Kane is expected to spearhead the CEF’s advocacy efforts, focusing on policy development, skills initiatives, and fostering a sustainable operating environment for the sector. His mandate will be crucial in navigating current economic uncertainties and leveraging opportunities for growth and innovation within the Northern Ireland construction landscape, providing clear direction for member firms and influencing government dialogue. The industry will be closely watching how his leadership shapes future priorities. Read More
