News: Considerate Constructors Scheme becomes an accredited Living Wage Employer
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) has announced its accreditation as a Living Wage Employer, effective 1st July 2025, a strategic move poised to influence labour standards across the UK construction industry. This decision commits CCS to paying all direct employees and third-party contracted staff at least the independently calculated real Living Wage – currently £12.60 nationally and £13.85 in London. This initiative transcends statutory minimums, reflecting CCS's stated commitment to raising industry benchmarks and fostering a more 'people-focused' sector.
By adopting the Living Wage, CCS aligns its internal practices with the higher standards it advocates for its members, positioning itself as a leader in ethical employment. The organisation emphasizes the broader impact, citing improved financial stability and well-being for hundreds of thousands of individuals within the wider Living Wage movement. For senior decision-makers in construction, this development underscores an evolving landscape where fair remuneration is increasingly seen not merely as a social imperative but as a critical component of long-term sustainability, talent attraction, and corporate reputation. CCS is now encouraging its partners and clients to follow suit, signalling a collective push towards enhanced labour practices and a more responsible industry ethos. Read More
