The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) has published a new Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Certification 'Toolkit', now made accessible via the Skillnet MMC Accelerate platform. This initiative is designed to streamline the Agrément certification process for novel building materials and systems lacking established national standards, providing a crucial framework for innovation. For senior decision-makers, the Toolkit represents a significant de-risking mechanism for MMC adoption, offering comprehensive guidance on compliance, documentation, timelines, and costs. It includes a self-assessment questionnaire, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to confidently navigate regulatory requirements and secure market entry for their products. This strategic publication aligns directly with Ireland’s ‘Housing for All’ plan, aiming to accelerate the delivery of 50,500 homes annually. By facilitating certification, the Toolkit aims to enhance product quality, build sector trust, and drive the faster, higher-quality, and more sustainable building practices critical for the future competitiveness of the Irish construction industry.
